Advancement
Boy Scouting provides a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses (link) at his own pace as he meets each challenge.
The Boy Scouts Requirement Handbook should always accompany the Scout. This book is available at the local scout shop (click for store locator) or online (link). Book covers are optional and a good idea to include. Scout leaders sign the books as Scouts accomplish advancement activities.
Every Monday Meeting offers an opportunity for Scouts to coordinate advancement opportunities with Advancement Volunteer Coordinators.
Court of Honor
Advancements are recognized quarterly by the Troop at a Court of Honor ceremony held during a Monday Meeting.
Board of Review
The troop committee conducts a Board of Review, periodically and at the end of each rank accomplishment, to review each Scout's progress, from Tenderfoot through Life ranks. The purpose of the Review is to encourage him in his Scouting and to learn whether he is enjoying his Scouting experience as well as to evaluate the unit's effectiveness in conducting the Scouting program to benefit him. Boards of Review are arranged by the Scout Master. Volunteers are available every Monday Meeting to conduct a Board of Review.
